More than 7 in 10 of nurse practitioners say that requiring physician supervision limits access to care, creates provider-patient confusion and raises health care costs, according to a survey of more than 12,000 NPs. The results were presented at the AANP National Conference in Las Vegas. More than 80% of NPs said mandatory physician oversight reduces their autonomy and restrains direct reimbursement.
