Edward Snowden, the contractor responsible for leaking information about U.S. domestic phone and Internet surveillance, says the U.S. maintains an aggressive hacking program targeting China and Hong Kong. "We hack network backbones -- like huge Internet routers, basically -- that give us access to the communications of hundreds of thousands of computers without having to hack every single one," he said in an interview with the South China Morning Post. The revelations come as the Obama administration is seeking to increase detente with China on the issue of cyberespionage and following a recent meeting between the presidents of the two nations.
