Leaders in the New York Senate did not bring up a transgender-rights bill in the legislative session that just ended. The measure, backed by a broad coalition this year, was a top priority of Empire State Pride Agenda. "It is incredibly disappointing that the Senate leadership again refused to bring GENDA to a vote ... We've worked to address the concerns raised by senators, yet the bill was still killed in a back room," said Sen. Daniel Squadron, a Democrat who was the lead sponsor of the legislation.
