Pretreatment PET staging of limited-stage small-cell lung cancer can improve patient survival, according to a study published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. PET-staged patients demonstrated three-year overall survival of 47%, while those who were not staged with PET had 19% survival, the study said. Median survival after diagnosis among PET-staged patients was 32 months, while it was 17 months for patients not staged with PET.
