ProShares has brought to BATS Exchange two exchange-traded funds investing in credit default swaps on high-yield debt issued by entities in North America. The ProShares CDS North American HY Credit ETF provides long CDS exposure, and the ProShares CDS Short North American HY Credit ETF delivers short CDS exposure.
Regulators are making it possible for investors to access the credit default swap market via exchange-traded funds. ProShares has received approval to list four pairs of funds that use CDS to take positions on companies in Europe and the U.S.

The ETFs offer individual investors unleveraged or 200% leveraged long or short exposure to the Markit CDX North America High Yield and the Markit CDX North America Investment Grade CDS indexes.
