The confident mastery that pilots must achieve over their aircraft is what The Flying Effect hopes to capture to help people achieve maximum performance in the workplace. That was the objective of a dozen female faculty members from Rutgers University who recently completed a workshop in the program funded by a National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant and the school's Office for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics. "What better way to foster women’s self reliance than to teach ourselves to fly?" said Joan Bennett, associate vice president of the SciWomen Office.
