Mars, Inc., researchers have identified a DNA sequence in Matina cacao plants that could result in higher yields of tastier chocolate. The Matina variety of cacao is known for its good flavor, and the new development could allow growers of cross-bred plants to identify high-yielding, tasty seedlings sooner, cutting the cost and labor of raising deficient plants.
