Teens who got less than seven hours of sleep every night were less likely than well-rested peers to consume healthy food and were more likely to eat fast food, U.S. researchers reported in the journal JAMA Pediatrics. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that teens sleep at least eight hours each night, but 18% of 13,284 participants in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health were sleep-deprived, sleeping for less than seven hours.
