Sony today released SmartWatch 2, an upgrade of the original 2012 version, adding near-field communications technology, a sharper display, longer battery life, and a stronger selection of applications, the company said. The Japanese consumer electronics giant also introduced the Xperia Z Ultra, a 6.4-inch Android phone that features full HD on its touch screen and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 dual-core processor. Sony said it expects to launch the phone in the third quarter but gave no word on its U.S. plans.
