Every year since launching a summer-meal program, the Cumberland County, Tenn., school district has increased the number of students served. In 2012, the program served 600 meals daily -- up from 150 in 2010. District officials hope to double the program's impact this summer. "We started the program in 2005 and we've grown every year," said Kathy Hamby, supervisor of school nutrition. "In 2010, we started delivering meals to sites in the community. Now, we deliver hot meals most days of the week, along with fresh fruits and vegetables."
