Tesco reported a 1% drop in same-store sales for the 13 weeks ending May 25, leading analysts to question the effectiveness of the retailer's $1.53 billion plan to turn around its U.K. business. The retailer, which sells a higher percentage of nonfood items than rival supermarket chains, suffered during the economic downturn as consumers reined in discretionary spending.
