A Michigan high school is searching for 40 local business and organization professionals to help assess senior students' exit portfolios. Students present a portfolio on a career pathway and must include a resume and multimedia report for assessment.
Louisiana students who attend a school without an advanced math course may have more flexibility in taking that class at another high school, under a program known as Course Choice. The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will consider state Superintendent John White's proposal to take about $2 million from another program to fund Course Choice as a pilot. Meanwhile, about 450 students have registered for courses, most seeking algebra I and AP classes that are unavailable at their schools.
Education leaders from districts in Florida are expected today to ask the state's board of education to reconsider the changes to how schools are evaluated. "We need to redefine and expand our definitions of bullying, particularly techno-spread bullying devoid of personal accountability and disseminated under the guise of free speech," said Sarah Phelps, a teacher in Florida who was bullied via Facebook.

Another app, Back Off Bully (BOB), was created by students and offers similar features, along with resources on bullying and a function that allows students to schedule counseling appointments.
