A high-tech vest loaded with ultrasound sensors, signal processing electronics and other gear could be used at home or in remote areas to detect cancers before symptoms develop. The device under development at Case Western Reserve University would be designed as "portable and affordable screening system for early detection of a tumor in internal organs. With alarming rise in cancer incidences across the world, such a system can provide effective pathway to battle the killer disease," said Swarup Bhunia, an associate professor of electrical engineering.
