Emirates will begin flying an A380 from Dubai to Los Angeles starting 2 Dec. The jumbo jet will replace flights on the 777. "Demand for our award-winning onboard service has steadily grown since we commenced operation to L.A. in 2008 and customers have been requesting our flagship A380 for some time now," said Orhan Abbas, commercial senior vice president of the Americas.
Qantas has responded to a rumor floating on social media that it will no longer make boarding calls in airport lounges. "We have no plans to stop making boarding announcements in our domestic or international lounges," a spokesman reiterated.
A three-dimensional moving map that shows air passengers their flight path and provides information about points over which they are passing is capturing the attention of airlines, including a European airline that plans to include the technology on its in-flight screens. The product, the creation of Betria Interactive, also may prove to be a retail platform for passenger purchases, said CEO Boris Veksler.
Vienna International Airport has opened its newly remodeled Check-in 1 terminal, which includes new check-in counters and lighting, and renovated walls and ceilings. The airport will now repair baggage equipment in Check-in 2, so those passengers will use Check-in 1A.
