ZTE said it has completed the world's first voice-over-TD-LTE call in a step forward for the TDD variation of the 4G technology. The Chinese telecom made the call in the city of Guangzhou via Marvell-powered 5-mode, 13-band smartphones. ZTE, which delivers VoTD-LTE through its IP Multimedia Subsystem platform, claims the technology consumes less power and delivers better performance than options that work over 2G or 3G networks.
