The pro-union background of two nominees for the National Labor Relations Board was questioned by some Republican senators during a Senate Labor Committee hearing. However, the nominees -- Nancy Schiffer, AFL-CIO associate general counsel, and Kent Hirozawa, chief counsel to the Democratic NLRB chairman -- said they can be fair and support the National Labor Relations Act, rather than the interests of union groups. Their confirmation vote could come Thursday, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
