This article shows five research buildings in Antarctica that are designed with the harsh environmental conditions and sustainability in mind. Among them: the Halley VI Research Station with "hydraulic legs;" the Princess Elisabeth Research Station, the region's first-ever zero-emission polar station; and India's Bharati Research Center, built from 136 prefab containers and designed to keep the carbon footprint to a minimum.
