Writing a strong, clear CSR report is no easy task, writes Michael Gutman. It's best to focus on goals rather than achievements, to address your ongoing environmental impacts as well as your impact reductions, and to aim for transparency rather than spin. "If your efforts are motivated by PR, [then] your CSR report could open up a can of worms that creates negative press and backfires," Gutman writes.
