Abengoa has started a demonstration plant transforming waste into biofuel in Spain, with a capacity to treat 25,000 tons of municipal solid waste. The resulting bioethanol product can be used as an intermediate step in producing aviation biofuel.
US Airways received approval from the Department of Transportation to offer daily service from Charlotte, N.C., to São Paulo. “Uninterrupted, nonstop air service between Charlotte and São Paulo is critical to maintaining our existing trade with Brazil and expanding business opportunities for North Carolina," said Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C.
Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, plans to begin a quarterly dividend next month. The initial dividend will be 20 cents payable to shareholders of record by Aug. 6, and will be paid out on Aug. 22.
As the investigation continues, NTSB Chairwoman Deborah Hersman said investigators still have a lot of information to review before issuing a final report in the months ahead. "There's a lot of interest in it and we want to make sure that we complete this investigation as expeditiously as possible," said Hersman.
