Security experts are pleased with the decisions of Microsoft and Apple to follow Google in automatically updating users' applications instead of awaiting user intervention, Gregg Keizer writes. Apple will transition to auto updates with OS X Mavericks for iOS7 and Microsoft will apply auto updates to Windows Store apps. "Frankly, the more automation the better because we cannot keep up with all the patches available," Secunia's Morten Stengaard says. "This is one of the best things we've seen in security in the last decade," CloudPassage's Andrew Storms says.
