The Arkansas state Board of Education on Monday voted to reject the appeal of a group of families who sought to transfer their children to a different school district under the state's new school choice law. The parents had wanted to transfer their children to a district that was allowed to opt out of the law because it remains under desegregation orders. "It's not our job to parse the law and decide who is exempt and who isn't," board member Vicki Saviers said.
