AT&T's U-verse TV service cruised past the 5-million-subscriber milestone by adding 233,000 customers in the second quarter, compared with 155,000 a year ago, the telecom reported on Tuesday. Total U-verse revenues grew by 30% as U-verse's combined video and broadband operations reached 9.4 million subscribers. Overall, AT&T revenues climbed by 1.6% as profits slid by 2.1% on higher expenses. On the wireless side, AT&T grew its contracted subscriber base by 551,000, mostly from tablet customers, a 72% improvement from a year ago.
