An Irish study of 1,112 13- to 16-year-olds showed that those who reported hearing voices or other auditory hallucinations were almost 70 times more likely to attempt suicide within the year than those without such experiences. Teens who manifested psychiatric symptoms, in addition to auditory hallucinations, had the highest suicidal risk, researchers reported in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.
