An underlying health problem such as fleas, environmental allergens or a skin infection could be causing the cat to lick so aggressively, and a visit to the veterinarian can assess these possibilities. If a physical condition is not found, Dr. Casler says behavior modification including anxiety treatment and increased play may help.
