The oil industry and its allies are redoubling their efforts to persuade lawmakers to scrap the Renewable Fuel Standard or at least suspend higher ethanol volume requirements for the next few years. Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association, says the RFS is working as intended by putting downward pressure on fuel prices and lessening the need for imported oil. Developers of cellulosic biofuels say dismantling the RFS would stunt the growth of advanced biofuels.
