FreshFruitPortal.com spoke with Chilean Hass Avocado Committee President Adolfo Ochagavía to gauge the status of this year's avocado crop. Ochagavía said growers will need to assess the impact of recent freezes, but in general, it appears cold weather will do less damage than previous years. Not counting the effect of the freeze, Ochagavía anticipated a yield of between 200,000 and 215,000 tons this year.
