The Chinese Academy of Sciences is giving $6.5 million to five research centers to enable them to collaborate with scientists in developing countries on studies of water, climate, biotechnology, green technology and space technology. "The five centers of excellence should strengthen communication, use their complementary advantages and share resources," said Cao Jinghua, the academy's vice-director general of Bureau of International Cooperation.
