Coloradan Alice Krueger, who has multiple sclerosis, created the online community Virtual Ability within Second Life, and the community has more than 700 members with disabilities. Users, who create avatars that are not bound by physical limitations, can interact with other members in the virtual world. Retired University of Colorado neuroscience professor Mark Dubin says such programs can be therapeutic.
