An initiative in Pittsburgh that aims to paint city building roofs with a reflective white coating is slated to start work on the sixth facility on its list on Saturday. The coating "reflects the sun so it can decrease the temperature of the building and make it more energy efficient," said Leslie Montgomery, spokeswoman for the Green Building Alliance. The city's Cool Roof program aims to paint 10 city building roofs, which could offset about 50 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
