A 700-foot section of the old Milton-Madison Bridge over the Ohio River between Milton, Ky., and Madison, Ind., has been demolished by explosives detonated at intervals to control where the span would fall. Three additional blast sessions will be needed to implode the rest of the bridge. A new bridge, already built and operational, will then be slid into the space occupied by the old span.
