Under the Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor programme, the China Securities Regulatory Commission has approved three foreign investors to buy equities on the mainland using offshore yuan. Permission granted to Hang Seng Investment Management, ICBC (Asia) Investment Management and Taiping Asset Management (HK) marks the first time since December 2011 that as many as three firms were approved in a single month. The decision brings the number of RQFII-approved firms to 22, as of the end of June.
