A study in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association revealed that personalized orthotic therapy that reduced plantar pressure was tied to lower reulceration rates in diabetes patients with a history of foot ulcers. Data showed reulceration rates in patients dropped from 79% to 15% at two years, while amputation rates declined from 54% to 6% and sick leave rates declined from 100% to 26% during the same period.
