Scientists think they have figured out what gives a distant alien planet that looks strikingly similar to Earth its rich blue hue: glass rain. Using imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope, British astronomers determined that the planet HD189733b -- which is largely made of gas and sports temperatures of more than 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit -- experiences storms with winds of thousands of miles per hour and sideways-falling silicate rain that refracts blue light.
