Indiana University Health Bloomington, which has offered wellness initiatives for 15 years, built its Live Well program around a philosophy of educating employees so they can make better choices, says Karen Danielson, manager of worksite wellness. Return-on-investment was not emphasized early on, but more recently the system has seen positive results from analyses of health risk reduction, sick days, turnover, presenteeism and the cost of illness.
