Only eight of 32 children with milk allergies remained symptom-free three to five years after completing oral immunotherapy, a treatment that slowly increases milk intake, a U.S. study showed. Of the patients, 12 had frequent allergy symptoms and six experienced severe reactions to milk. The findings appear in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
