An analysis of data from almost 600 gallbladder surgeries conducted in one U.S. hospital revealed that 18 of the 22 patients who experienced complications underwent emergency procedures. Getting the surgery after 7 p.m. and being an older man were linked to a greater risk of complications, researchers reported at the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract meeting.
