Ama Yawson, a corporate lawyer, was inspired by her experiences in West Africa to start the Joojos shoe company. "I think it kind of went back to what I saw in Ghana, seeing children walking around barefoot, with no shoes, exposed to soil-borne illnesses," she said. Yawson plans to encourage customers to send in shoes their children have outgrown, and those shoes will be sent to Ghana for children who need them.
