A federal requirement that increases the amount of ethanol blended into gasoline could risk the safety of users of outdoor power equipment, according to Josiah Neeley, a policy analyst at the Armstrong Center for Energy & the Environment at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Testing has shown E15 fuel can cause "unintended clutch engagement caused by high idle speeds" in chainsaws, and there are reports of the saws restarting on their own, Neeley notes.
