For the eighth straight week, the Federal Reserve's balance sheet increased, ending the week of July 24 with liabilities of $3.532 trillion, up from $3.495 trillion the week before. The Fed's holdings in Treasurys and mortgage bonds guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Association, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac increased during the time period.
