The SoundBrush music-composition application for iPads can be likened to finger painting with sound, Eliza Brooke writes. Users compose notes along an X-Y axis and hear the notes played with the included piano, ocarina and harmonica sounds, with the ability to add instruments for a fee. Co-founder Basil Al-Dajane says SoundBrush differs from GarageBand by "offering a wider range of notes and by making it easy to move and copy groups of lines," Brooke writes.
