Most children were able to open and quickly empty uncapped or incompletely closed child-resistant liquid medication bottles, but only 6% of 110 children ages 3 to 4 in the experiment were able to empty the bottles with flow restrictors in 10 minutes, according to a study in The Journal of Pediatrics. The findings suggest that flow restrictors could help prevent accidental drug poisonings in children.
