USDA researchers say 43.1% of food and drinks in 2010 were packaged with a health or nutrition claim, such as low-fat or gluten-free. "From 2001 to 2010, the percentage of sugar-related claims carried by new beverage products accounted for the biggest increase in [a health- and nutrition-related] claim carried by a single product category, from 25 to 45%," study author Stephen Martinez wrote.
