The White House announced Friday the final rules on the birth-control coverage mandate of the Affordable Care Act, which requires almost all employers to include in their employee health insurance policy the coverage of birth control without charging a co-pay or a deductible. The rules exempt only religious employers as defined under the Internal Revenue Code, but not universities and other religious-affiliated institutions. The rules guarantee the access of women to preventive care and make sure faith-based employers don't have to arrange or pay for treatments against their beliefs, HHS said.
