The prevalence of pressure ulcers among hospitalized children was more than twice as high as previously believed to occur in young people, with at least 10% of patients getting bedsores, a study in the journal Pediatrics showed. While most adults get bedsores from pressure on bony body parts, children usually get the ulcers from medical devices, the study found.
