The Trayvon Martin case has some educators, experts and President Barack Obama shining the spotlight on the success of African-American male students. Education reporter Jackie Zubrzycki writes in this blog post that Cassie Schwerner, senior vice president of programs at the Schott Foundation for Public Education, said her organization's position is to put policies in place to help identify struggling students, change discipline policies and ensure supports are set for struggling students that address the needs of the whole child.
