Scientists using the Hubble Space Telescope have discovered a Jupiter-sized blue planet orbiting its star every 2.2 days. The unusual Earthlike color of planet HD 189733b surprised the scientists, but they say its environment is too hot for water and it's clouds are made of liquid glass. “Our best guess is that the color is due to a combination of reflection by silicate clouds and absorption by sodium atoms. Other factors may be photochemical aerosols -- i.e. smog -- and absorption by other atoms or molecules than sodium," said astronomer Frederic Pont.
