Senate leaders remain upbeat about the possibility of passing far-reaching immigration reforms, but many Americans aren't so sure: In a new poll, two-thirds of respondents say they believe the reform effort is doomed. That could be bad news for the GOP, with deep-pocketed industry leaders in Silicon Valley saying they'll hold the party to blame if the Senate bill fails. "I think for the [House] Republican leadership in particular, people in the Valley would say, 'How could you let this fail? We needed this,' " said one tech-industry lobbyist.
