Intel has acquired Omek Interactive, a developer of gesture-recognition technologies for computers and mobile devices. Financial terms weren't revealed by the chipmaker, but the Geektime.com website put the purchase price at $40 million. Omek's Beckon and Grasp development suites are middleware to facilitate converting raw depth data from 3D sensor cameras to inputs for gesture recognition and motion tracking. Two years ago, Intel Capital led a $7 million round of private investment in Omek.
