More than half of the top 100 Android mobile applications access user location even as the majority of users were unaware that data could be used for marketing, according to researchers at Carnegie Mellon. This article lists five popular apps users might not realize collect location data, including JayZ's Magna Carta App, which collected vast amounts of user data in exchange for song downloads, and Brightest Flashlight, which 95% of users said they didn't realize tracks their location. Other apps that take location data are Angry Birds, Shazam and Dictionary.com.
