A JAMA study found young adults increased their risk of coronary artery calcification at midlife each year they remained obese, and those who were obese the longest had a higher risk of hypertension and high cholesterol. "If we don't tackle obesity in these young people, there will be an epidemic of coronary artery disease just like there is currently an epidemic of obesity," said American Heart Association President Dr. Mariell Jessup.
